Will Samsung show off its first Glasses Free 3D TV at CES 2012?
by Robert Wiley
This past spring Samsung unveiled a prototype glasses free 3D TV in China at the FTP trade show. The display has nine varying lateral points across which the glasses free 3D TV will display the image to the viewer without crosstalk. The prototype shown had CCFL backlighting which will likely be changed to LED. Otherwise it was 55" and had a system for easily changing back to 2 dimensional mode by changing the refraction index points on the LCD panel thus taking away the stereoscopic effects of 3D. At last years CES we viewed the Toshiba glasses free 3D display with mixed reviews, we gave them high marks for nerve, but clearly the product was still a ways from production.
